Tonight I had the great idea to make one chocolate chip cookie. I did not want a whole batch, I just wanted one. I had most of the ingredients so I thought, “hey why not give it a try.” I found this humorous recipe fromĀ instructables.com.
Here are the ingredients:
- 1 Tbsp. White granulated sugar
- 1 Tbsp. Brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. Butter
- 1-2 Tbsp. Chocolate chips
- 1 Tbsp. Water
- 1/8 tsp. Vanilla
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of baking soda
- 1/4 Cup Flour + 1 Tbsp. Flour
I didn’t have white sugar, vanilla, butter, or regular white flour. I had brown sugar, honey, and whole wheat flour so I thought I’d just substitute freely. Another thing you’ll notice about this list is that it is very specific. Like most things going on in my kitchen, I took these as guidelines. I don’t even have measuring spoons– but I do have spoons!
Set your oven to 350F degrees, and then bake for 12-15 minutes.
Here is my cookie:
It looks good. The consistence was more like a pancake than a cookie. This probably is due to the fact that there is no egg in it. But more likely because I used whole wheat flour and didn’t have vanilla. I totally forgot about the butter too.

So… the question is: was it any good? I mean, it looks fine, and I like the consistency of pancakes, but did it taste ok without the vanilla?
It was good. More like a pancake than a cookie which is directly related to the flour I used. It tasted fine without vanilla.
Since then, I purchased vanilla, regular flour, white sugar, and I’m feeling a lot more confident in my future baking endeavors. I should probably get a mixing bowl instead of using a pot now…
